Statue of Liberty: The Icon That Still Welcomes the Brave
Share
When you throw on one of our USA pieces, that striking Statue of Liberty graphic hits different. She’s not just standing there; she’s inviting you in with that raised torch, crown glowing, and broken chains at her feet.
It’s the perfect design for patriots who know freedom isn’t free… and never takes a day off.
This isn’t just patriotic apparel. This is wearable history that reminds the world: America is the land of opportunity, strength, and second chances.
The Gift That Almost Didn’t Happen
Back in 1865, a French sculptor named Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi was at a dinner party when the idea struck: France should give America a monument celebrating liberty and the friendship between the two nations.
No government money on either side; it was funded by everyday people. The French paid for the statue (copper skin hammered by hand over an iron skeleton designed by Gustave Eiffel; yes, that Eiffel). Americans raised the cash for the pedestal.
She arrived in New York Harbor in 350 pieces inside 214 crates. Reassembled, she was dedicated on October 28, 1886, with President Grover Cleveland and a massive parade. At 305 feet tall (including the pedestal), she was the tallest structure in New York at the time.
Fun Facts That Make Her Even Cooler
- The crown: 7 rays = the 7 seas and 7 continents. She’s literally shining light everywhere.
- The torch: Originally pure copper, now gold-leafed. It’s been a real lighthouse (until 1902) and survived a massive WWII blackout test.
- The tablet: Says “JULY IV MDCCLXXVI” - July 4, 1776. She’s holding the Declaration of Independence.
- The broken chain: At her feet, a not-so-subtle reminder that tyranny is crushed here.
- Emma Lazarus’ poem: “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free…” was written to help fund the pedestal.
Did you know she’s turned green from oxidation? That copper patina is basically her battle armor; built to last forever.

From the Founders who dreamed her to the immigrants who sailed past her, the message is the same:
Come ready to work. Come ready to be free. Come ready to be American.
